2019 Youth Worlds update

Congratulations on some awesome efforts by all of our Victorian archers in the individual events .

Laura Paeglis‘s giant killing spree was the highlight for all of the Australian archers by making it right through to the Quarter Finals (round 5) courtesy of some World class shooting under real pressure from her higher ranked opponents.

After ranking in 30th place she progressed through her rounds with wins of 6-0, 6-0, 7-3, and 6-5 (10v9), before eventually going down 0-6 to Bronze Medal contender Jang Mi of South Korea (ranked 11th).

Her 3rd round match saw Laura eliminate the 3rd ranked and much fancied Casey Kaufhold of the US – one of the Worlds top Female Cadet Recurvers.

Tazmin Forrest ranked 24th and won her round 1 match (142-138) before going down to the 9th ranked archer from India (138-141).

Tazmin was also part of the Compound Cadet Womens team who ranked 12th overall and won their round 1 match against the 5th ranked Great Britain (224-223) before going down to the 4th ranked US team (215-226).

Harri Howden ranked 54th and won his 1st round match (137-134) before going down to the 11th ranked Turkish archer (139-145).

Harri was also part of the Compound Junior Mens team who ranked 9th overall, with the team going down in round 1 to the 8th ranked Colombians (226-230).

James Gaze ranked 98th in what was clearly the largest division in the competition (with 111 archers), and went down 7-3 to the 15th ranked Russian archer in round 1.

All in all some excellent results for our Victorian archers … we are all very proud to have you representing us on the World stage – WELL DONE !
