Age Classes

2024 Victorian Age Classes
Under 12 (formerly Joeys) – Athletes born in the year 2013 or later (**CURRENTLY VICTORIA ONLY**)
An athlete may compete in the Under 12 class in tournaments until December 31 of the year of his or her 11th birthday.
Under 14 (formerly Cubs) – Athletes born in the year 2011 or 2012
An athlete may compete in the Under 14 class in tournaments until December 31 of the year of his or her 13th birthday.
Under 16 (formerly Intermediate) – Athletes born in the years 2009 or 2010
An athlete may compete in the Under 16 class in tournaments until December 31 of the year of his or her 15th birthday.
Under 18 (formerly Cadets) – Athletes born in the years 2007 or 2008
An athlete may compete in the Under 18 class in tournaments until December 31 of the year of his or her 17th birthday.
Under 21 (formerly Junior) – Athletes born in the years 2004, 2005, or 2006
An athlete may compete in the Under 21 class in tournaments until December 31 of the year of his or her 20th birthday.
Open – Athletes born in 1975 to 2003 inclusive
An athlete of any age may compete in the Open class in tournaments, but those born in the above years have no alternative.
50+ (formerly Masters) – Athletes born in 1965 to 1974
An athlete may compete in the 50+ Class in tournaments from January 1 of the year of his or her 50th birthday and thereafter.
60+ (formerly Veterans) – Athletes born in 1955 to 1964
An athlete may compete in the 60+ class in tournaments from January 1 of the year of his or her 60th birthday and thereafter.
70+ (formerly Veterans Plus) – Athletes born in or prior to 1954
An athlete may compete in the 70+ class in tournaments from January 1 of the year of his or her 70th birthday and thereafter.
NOTE:
- Under 12 (U12) can shoot as U12,U14, U16, U18, U21 or Open
- Under 14 (U14) can shoot as U14, U16, U18, U21 or Open
- Under 16 (U16) can shoot as U16, U18, U21 or Open
- Under 18 (U18) can shoot as U18, U21 or Open
- Under 21 (U21) can shoot as U21 or Open
- 50+ can shoot as 50+ or Open
- 60+ can shoot as 60+, 50+ or Open
- 70+ can shoot as 70+, 60+, 50+ or Open
Clubs and RGBs may develop younger or older age divisions to cater for their own needs. The age divisions above are the only age divisions recognised for Archery Australia Tournaments, National Records, and at National and Youth National Championships.
